Felicity Jane Mount

I
am the second child of John Leo Moorhouse and Florence.
Leo was the
third son of William Edward Moorhouse.
My Father was a Director of Moorhouse
and Sons [Moorhouses'
Jam] and after the takeover in 1959 he worked for Schweppes, then Cadbury Schweppes
on the sales side for many years.
Many of you know me as Jane - I used to use my middle
name because my elder brother, Stephen, couldn't say Felicity. After
my mid-life crisis I started to use my first name and this has caused much
confusion amongst my husband's ex-work colleagues who assume he has remarried.
I was born in Leicester and my family moved back to Yorkshire when I was eleven,
living in Linton. I went to the convent at Clifford and then the Bar Convent
in York. I went to Leeds Polytechnic and studied Institutional Management.
I worked for Leeds University then Trust Houses Forte. I got married in 1975
to my husband Miles. We have lived in various places in the UK, moving with
work, and then spent 11 years in America, where my husband ran a medical equipment
company [and when visas allowed I worked in the Accounts Department].
When we returned to the UK our two daughters, then at University
in America, took out American citizenship. Katrina is now married with
two children, and lives in Los Angeles; she works as a Genetic Counsellor.
Emma has moved back to the UK and is now married with one child on
the way, and she works in Sheffield as a Technical Writer.
When we moved back to England, and after my Father's early
death, I became more interested in the Moorhouse Family History. Relations
have been supplying me with a wealth of historical information, some of which
is shared in this website.
My husband and I are both keen hill walkers [we walked the Wolds Way (90
miles) in 2012, The Pennine Way (278 miles) and the south Downs Way (100
miles) in 2011, The Southern Upland Way (230) miles) in 2010, The Cumbria
Way and the British 3 Peaks in 2009, Offas Dyke in 2008, Hadrian's Wall
in 2007, the Coast to Coast in 2006, and the Cleveland Way in
2005]. I also do a little running. I
have done the Edinburgh Marathon in 2009, the London Marathon in 2007
and the Great North Run [a half marathon] four times for charity.
Does
madness run in the family?
